real world. People first.

Leadership Books

Resources in retail are scarce.

Most leadership books are written for the C-Suite. Theory is great, but what about practical application?

Field leaders need quick, actionable advice.

After decades on a retail floor, I wanted to give back to the leaders in the field. So, I wrote the book I wish I had when I first got my store keys.

Key Highlights
Kevin Kelley Architect at Shook Kelley

“I found myself referring to her book so often that I bought a box of the books to keep in my car to hand out to all the aspiring managers I meet in retail stores and corporate environments.”

MH

Nailed It.

I wish I would’ve had this book 20+ years ago when I was starting out. Many leadership books are written big picture, which is great when you’re talking about leadership theories but when you’re talking about real life, sometimes you need to cut through all the philosophies and just have someone tell you here’s what will work and she has done that in this book. Great job.

“A must read for retail managers”

“This book ensures you never forget the “people” as a people leader.

Kit reminds us time and time again just how important it is to lead people first. You can feel her passion and pride for the retail store in every page you turn. Can’t wait to read more of her work.

Michael Thompson Storytelling coach & comms strategist

“Love the voice. Love the advice. Love the writing.”

“Though positioned for retail leaders, this book is something we should all read as life is a people game and Kit’s advice and experience navigating every type of situation and personality type can benefit us all. Highly recommend this quick yet actionable read.”

“A much-needed field guide”

“Managing people is much harder, more stressful, and emotionally taxing than it looks.
When I stumbled upon Kit Campoy’s excellent book, I couldn’t put it down.
Kit is a seasoned retail leader and gifted writer who gets to the point in a profoundly simple way.”

Evan Wildstein Nonprofiteer

“Not simply for retail folks”

“Campoy has given businesses of all shapes a roadmap for influence — not simply retail.
I’ve already begun practicing some of her expert advice in my nonprofit work. The personal stories of success and struggle bring this book down to earth, meeting you right where you are.
Managers and leaders, this IS your field guide.”
